One of the key statistics that must be discussed about the RM 67-02 is its thickness, which is 7.8mm. This is very thin for a sports watch, actually thinner than the Patek Philippe ref. 5711 or Audemars Piguet reference. 15202. But importantly, it's the result of Mille's focus on ultra-thin watches, dating back to the RM 16 launched in 2007. Exactly seven years before Bvlgari introduced the now-famous Octo Finissimo, Mille had proven ultra-thin watches. Thin watches with stunning design and real power of individuality are an important part of the future. Mille has always kept an eye on the zeitgeist, and he foresaw the interest in ultra-thin watches long before the rest of the market came to this conclusion.
The first extra-flat Richard Mille Tonneau watch — RM 67-01
The direct predecessor of the RM 67-02 is the RM 67-01, which was first introduced in 2016. Ted Fang, owner of this model I met at a Richard Mille event in Singapore said: "From what I saw on the 67-01, I love it. It has all the Richard Mille design specs I love, but it's super easy to wear. Easy. When I first bought it, people were curious about it but asked me why I didn't buy it at RM11. Now everyone tells me how great it feels to wear on my wrist. I think Richard knows the collection The family would repurchase thinner watches, but he just got there before most markets. That’s Richard – always leading the way.”Richard Mille RM 65-01 Automatic Split Seconds
The RM 67-01 is an amazing timepiece. This is Mille's first ultra-thin tonneau watch with a new in-house automatic movement, a platinum rotor with CRMA6 and a height of 3.6 mm. Already at this point, Richard Mille saw the need for a more elegant size while retaining the power of its design. Therefore, the height of the RM 67-01 is 7.75 mm.
The RM 67-01 was Richard Mille’s first ultra-thin tonneau watch, powered by a new in-house automatic movement with a platinum rotor with CRMA6, and was 3.6mm high; since then the watch itself has been 7.75mm high.
In many ways, the RM 67-01 was also the predecessor to watches like Mille's new RM 72-01 Lifestyle Chronograph, as it was sleeker, more wearable, and perhaps most importantly, from a cultural standpoint, it really didn't differentiate gender. This is yet another example of Mille's vision in a world where people no longer identify with traditional gender roles or gender watches. After all, the Daytona is both a women's watch and a men's watch. Miller wanted his watch to appeal to everyone equally, regardless of gender, and based solely on the strength of their character. Looking at the RM 67-01, you can already see that, as far as his tonneau watch is concerned, this watch represents the first dynamic shift towards this concept. But in fact, cheap luxury watches
When it was first released in 2011, the RM 033 was surprising and unexpected for two reasons. First, the 45.7mm case is round; second, the watch is incredibly thin, reaching a staggering 6.3mm in height to be exact, thanks to the lovely 2.6mm thick RMXP1 micro-rotor movement inside. This movement is completely skeletonized with a grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges. The watch has radial Roman numerals. Although the watch is round, it is also ergonomic like all Mille designs, so it fits perfectly on the wrist.

Richard Mille's RM 016 dates back to 2007 and what I find extraordinary about it is that it is fundamentally ahead of the industry. Probably for this reason, many collectors at the time were a little unsure of what to do. Until then, Richard's most iconic watches, such as the RM 001, RM 004 and RM 008, featured his stunning tonneau shape and were relatively chunky watches as they all included Mille's aggressive aesthetic and different forms of seismic testing, which will define the genetic blueprint of his brand in the future. But the 38mm wide and 49.8mm long curved rectangular case of the RM 016 is only 8.25mm thick, leaving collectors a little confused. After all, this is not the Mille watch they were expecting. But, for me, this is the first time Richard has radically improved the wearability of a watch by lowering the case height. The RM 67-02 is a combination of this concept with the RM 027 and RM 035's experimentation with ultra-lightness, shock resistance and material innovation. But without the important milestone of RM 016, I don't think RM 67-02 will exist today.
To demonstrate that his high complexity could also be the subject of ultra-thin experiments, Richard Mille introduced us to the RM 017 tourbillon in 2010. While the case surface is the ergonomically curved rectangle of the RM 016, here we have a spectacular skeletonized tourbillon movement that is only 4.65mm thick, so this watch measures 49.8mm x 38mm but is tall Only 8.7mm. In today's context, there are thinner tourbillons, and even automatic tourbillons, but in 2010, again well before the revival of ultra-thin watches, this was a groundbreaking, unconventional timepiece. Also, it should be said that this is one of my favorite Richard Mille movements, and despite its slenderness, it showcases Mille’s signature hyper-skeleton theme with incredible beauty. So much so that even though it's not super thin I have to give a shoutout to Richard Mille's RM 17-01 here, it's the same movement housed in a regular sized carbon TPT tonneau case, Rose Gold Highlights in Micro - Limited to 10 watches. It's also the white and black ceramic version released last year. I don't know why these watches are popping up in 2020. Maybe someone opened a drawer at RM HQ and found some leftover movements, but all I know is that this is one of my all-time favorite Richard Milles. Thanks to carbon fiber TPT and minimal movement, this 48.15mm x 40.1mm x 13.8mm beauty is, as the Neapolitans say about their cut, "as light as the wind on Vesuvius. " replica Jacob & Co.
